When Will Denver Get It’s First Snow of 2023?

Today is the first day that Denver has really felt like fall, and The National Weather Service has issued a freeze watch for Saturday morning which includes the northeast plains and parts of western Weld County and eastern Adams and Arapahoe counties. It will be possible for some areas to drop down into the upper 20s by sunrise. It’s not likely the Denver metro area will see the freeze, but it’s possible. So, when will we see snow?
The average date for Denver’s first snow of the season is Oct. 18, but the last few years haven’t even come close to that date!
In 2020, for example, Denver saw the second-earliest first snow on record on Sept. 8. The next year, however, the complete opposite happened when we did not see measurable snow until Dec. 10, 2021.
Last year, in 2022, the first snow happened Nov. 4.
In other words, have your winter coats unpacked, but there’s also a good chance they’ll just sit there for awhile.
