Eastern Plains 7-Eleven sells $7.8 million lottery ticket

The Eastern Plains received some much-needed love from the lottery earlier this week.
Although lottery winners in the state often purchase their tickets on the Front Range, this particular ticket was sold in Wray, which is located about nine miles west of the Nebraska state line and 25 miles northwest of Kansas’. The ticket, purchased at a 7-Eleven Wednesday night, is worth $7,860,854, which marks the highest winnings for that particular lottery in over a year.
In February of 2023, a Colorado Lotto+ ticket was purchased at a King Soopers in Centennial that was worth $11.5 million. A year prior, two people split the $25 million jackpot from tickets sold at a Safeway fuel center in Monument and Jackpocket, a mobile app. This was the second highest jackpot in Colorado Lotto+ history. The largest sum was won 30 years earlier in 1992 for $27 million.
Wray, with a population of just 2,295 according to 2022’s census, is located in Yuma County and is situated about 170 east of the Mile High City.
The next drawing is Saturday, April 27, at 7:35 p.m., with an estimated jackpot of $1,000,000.
