Opening Day, Easter sunrise service and 88 Drive-In is back | What’s Up Colorado

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, congratulations…you’ve got options! Like, really good options. Baseball, a sunrise that’ll give you chills and a throwback movie night under the stars? Let’s get into it.

The Rockies are home!

Colorado opens its first homestand of the 2026 season Friday afternoon when the Philadelphia Phillies come to town for a 2:10 p.m. first pitch at Coors Field. The Rockies stick around through April 8, so you’ve got six games and nearly a full week to grab a hot dog and soak up some spring sunshine!

Easter morning at Red Rocks — a Colorado tradition

For 79 years, people have been bundling up before dawn and making the drive to Red Rocks Amphitheatre for the annual Easter Sunrise Service, and this Sunday is no exception. Hosted by the Colorado Council of Churches, gates open at 4:45 a.m. with music beginning at 5:30 a.m. and the worship service starting at 6 a.m. It’s completely free, no reservations required…just show up, grab a seat and take in one of the most beautiful settings for an Easter morning you’ll ever experience.

Drive-in movies are back

OK, this one just makes me happy. The 88 Drive-In Theatre is reopening Friday for its 50th  summer season! It’s the last remaining drive-in in the Denver metro area, and this weekend’s double feature pairs “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” with “Reminders of Him” on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Grab a blanket, roll the windows down and enjoy a movie experience that never gets old. Get details and ticket info here.

Happy weekend, Colorado. You’ve earned it.
