This Colorado town experienced winds near 100 mph over the weekend

Colorado experienced unusual weather over the weekend, as certain areas encountered wind gusts reaching nearly 100 mph. Numerous counties in Colorado were impacted by strong winds, which is not typical for this season.

Although the wind was felt throughout Colorado, some areas were affected more severely than others. Wind speeds in the mountains and foothills varied from 70 to 95 mph, while the northeast plains, particularly around Fort Morgan, experienced the strongest winds ranging from 60 to 80 mph, as reported by the National Weather Service.

NWS reported that NCAR Mesa Lab in Boulder had the highest wind gust at 97 mph.

Here are the locations that saw the highest wind gusts from April 6-7, according to NWS:

  1. NCAR Mesa Lab, Boulder: 97
  2. Coal Creek Canyon, Jefferson, 96
  3. 3 NW Marshall, Boulder, 95
  4. Buckeye, Larimer, 93
  5. 3 ESE Buckeye, Larimer, 91
  6. 2 ENE Copper Mountain, Summit, 91
  7. Rocky Flats Hwy 93 and 72, Jefferson, 90
