The world’s largest steam locomotive is wrapping up its coast-to-coast summer tour celebrating America’s 250th anniversary and returning to its homebase in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on Wednesday, July 29. Union Pacific confirmed several public viewing opportunities across the state — so yes, you actually have a reason to load the kids in the car.
Here’s where you can catch it:
- Kit Carson — Monday, 10:45 a.m.
- Strasburg — Monday, 3:45 p.m.
- Greeley — Wednesday, 1:15 p.m.
Now, before you get too excited — Big Boy WILL be in Denver on Tuesday, but there’s no public access. (Rude, honestly.)
Strasburg is your best bet for Front Range families who don’t want to commit to a two-hour drive. And Greeley on Wednesday gives you one last shot before this beauty rolls back into Wyoming for good.
