Taylor Swift has revealed a brand new era.
Swift revealed the title of her upcoming 12th studio album – “The Life of a Showgirl.” Swift made the announcement with the help of boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce on their “New Heights” podcast. In the video clip shared on Instagram at 12:12 a.m. E.T. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, Swift, 35, says, “Can I show you something?”
Jason, 37, replies, “Okay. What do we got? We got a briefcase? Mint green, with T.S. on it.” “Yup,” Swift chimes in. “What’s in it?” Jason asks, his eyes widening in surprise. “This is my brand new album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl,'” Swift reveals.
“TS 12!” Travis, 35, cheers. The cover remained obscured, and her website now displays the mysterious orange and green blurred album cover, alongside options to purchase vinyl, cassette and CD versions. The CD edition will come with a poster. The track list for the album was not revealed.
Several books with orange covers can be seen behind Swift on the “New Heights” set. Among them are books featuring the works of artists Jean-Michel Basquiat, Marc Chagall and Ruth Asawa, all of whom are tied to the modernism and neo-expressionism movements.
A silver microphone and football can also be seen in the background, alongside a book about Mark Rothko, an artist whose abstract work includes some paintings with orange. Another book appears to be about Charles and Ray Eames, the husband-and-wife team who made major strides in 20th-century industrial design.
Swift added a countdown to her website earlier on Monday, Aug. 11, which expired at 12:12 a.m. E.T. The countdown shows a glittering orange backdrop, with the cryptic clock in mint green lettering.
The countdown comes amid confirmation that the “Guilty as Sin?” singer will soon appear as a guest the podcast on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
Swift’s new music release, meanwhile, comes after it was reported that she was diving into a “top secret” project after her record-breaking Eras Tour ended last December.
“Taylor was in Los Angeles on Thursday filming a new music video,” an insider told the US Sun. “It was so top secret that those working on set were not even allowed to hear the song, only the beat.”
The album’s release date is also a mystery, although Swift’s website says copies will ship before Oct. 13.
I. AM. SO. EXCITED!
