It’s Too Hot To Go Outside, They’re Bored, and You’re Out of Ideas
Been there. We’ve ALL been there.
Good news: homemade slime is your new best friend. It’s cheap, it’s easy, and it’ll buy you at least two hours of peace. You’re welcome.
But Wait — It’s Actually Educational
Before you judge the mess potential, science backs this one up. Slime play genuinely helps kids develop fine motor skills, problem-solving abilities and independent thinking. So technically, you’re basically running a STEM program out of your kitchen. Put that on your mom resume.
What You’ll Need
The recipe is simple enough that your pre-teen can mostly handle it herself. Mostly. Key ingredients typically include glue, baking soda and contact solution. That’s it. No PhD required.
A Few Ground Rules From One Mom to Another
- Supervise the process. I’m not saying they’ll make a catastrophic mess. I’m saying they absolutely will.
- Store it properly in an airtight container or it becomes a science experiment nobody asked for.
- Protect the carpet. Seriously. Protect. The. Carpet.
Happy sliming, Denver! 🤞
