School districts across country ban energy drinks on school property

Listen up, Denver parents — schools across the country are laying down the law on energy drinks this fall, and as a mom, I am here for it.

Starting this school year, many districts are banning energy drinks entirely — and we’re not just talking about cracking one open at lunch. Opened or unopened drinks won’t be allowed on school property at all. Zero. Nada. Not even in the backpack.

Superintendents say the reasoning is pretty straightforward — energy drinks can spike heart rates and seriously disrupt behavior in kids. Which, if you’ve ever watched a 12-year-old crack open a Celsius at 7:30 in the morning, you already knew.

And look — I get it. Your pre-teen is going to act like this is the greatest injustice of their entire life. There will be drama. There will be eye rolls. There may be a full-on monologue about how “everyone drinks them, Mom.”

Hold firm.

These things have more caffeine than a grande latte, and your kid is still growing. Schools making this call isn’t overreach — it’s actually just…responsible.

Now, if they could only ban whatever that AXE body spray situation is in the hallways, we’d really be making progress.
