Same Colorado linked farm that caused the E.Coli outbreak at McDonalds could be the source of the explosive situation at Taco Bell

Jul 17, 2026, 9:55 AM

Well well well. Because apparently we can’t have nice things… or safe lettuce.

Listen up, Denver. Taylor Farms — yes, THAT Taylor Farms, the same company linked to the E. coli outbreak in McDonald’s onions not too long ago — is now connected to another foodborne illness outbreak, allegedly. This time? A nasty bout of what we’ll politely call “explosive digestive distress.”

The company operates a facility right in Colorado Springs, which hits a little too close for comfort for us Front Range folks.

Health officials are pointing to shredded lettuce as the likely culprit this time around, with Taco Bell being flagged as a connected source.

What You Need to Know Right Now:

  • Skip Taco Bell for the time being (your wallet might actually thank you)
  • Avoid pre-shredded lettuce until further notice
  • Watch for symptoms including stomach cramps, diarrhea, and fever
  • Contact your doctor if symptoms become severe

As a mom, I’m telling you — check those ingredient labels and maybe hold off on Taco Tuesday this week. No Crunchwrap Supreme is worth what’s being described in these reports.

We’ll keep you updated as this story develops.

Stay safe out there, Colorado. 💚
