Put Down the Crunchwrap, Denver — Taco Bell Has Pulled Some Fresh Ingredients over Parasite

Jul 10, 2026, 9:56 AM | Updated: 10:09 am

We hate to be the ones to tell you this, but your Tuesday just got a little more complicated.

Taco Bell has reportedly pulled several fresh ingredients from its menu while health officials investigate a surge in a foodborne parasite. Yes, a parasite. In the food. That people were eating.

Health officials are also investigating outbreaks in Ohio, North Carolina, Illinois, Colorado, Texas, Florida and Connecticut, though the source has not yet been identified.

Why This Hits Different as a Mom

Listen, we’re not here to judge anyone’s Taco Bell order. Some days it’s a gourmet home-cooked meal. Some days it’s a $5 box in a parking lot and we don’t want to talk about it. We’ve ALL been there.

But if you or your kids have recently visited Taco Bell and are experiencing stomach issues — nausea, cramping, or worse — it’s worth a call to your doctor.

Foodborne parasites are no joke and symptoms can show up days later.

What To Do Right Now:

  • Hold off on Taco Bell until we know more
  • See a doctor if you’re feeling off after a recent visit
  • Check the CDC website for updates on the investigation

We’ll keep you posted as this develops.

Taco Tuesday may need to wait, Denver. 😬

As of now:

Locations, including some in Metro Detroit, have posted signs telling customers they are temporarily unable to serve several produce items while health officials respond to a spike in cyclosporiasis cases, WWJ reported on Tuesday.

“We are currently unable to sell Lettuce, Cilantro Onion, Pico de Gallo and Guacamole due to a nationwide recall,” the notices say.
