Pups to take over Water World September 12

Aug 21, 2026, 11:15 AM | Updated: 2:01 pm

Dog lovers, this is the kind of end-of-summer news we need!

Water World will wrap up its 2026 season with its ninth annual Bow Wow Beach Doggie Day on Saturday, Sept. 12, and yes, the pools will be open just for dogs. How adorable is that?

The event benefits Riverdale Animal Shelter, helping support low-cost vaccinations and microchipping services for local pets. There will be three 90-minute splash sessions in the Thunder Bay wave pool and other areas of the park. Each session can host hundreds of pups, so picture a giant pool party full of wagging tails. Honestly, I can’t think of a happier way to close out summer.

Tickets go on sale Monday, Aug. 24, at 1 p.m. on Water World’s website, and they are expected to go fast. Dogs need a ticket, but humans get in free. A few important notes: Dogs must be at least 1 year old, have vaccinations on file and not have been sick in the previous seven days.

Water World stays open through Labor Day, but after that, it is officially the dogs’ turn to make a splash. Check it out here.
