Pink Moon April 23, but you should know this first

By Jenny D on April 23, 2024

I was a little excited about a so-called Pink Moon, until I found out the truth.

April’s full Pink Moon will reach peak illumination at 7:49 p.m. ET on April 23. NASA says it will be visible from Tuesday night until Thursday morning.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac says the name “Pink Moon” has nothing to do with the moon’s actual color. The moniker is connected to the early spring bloom of certain wildflowers, including one native to eastern North America that is often called “moss pink.”
