“Old school” metal braces are…cool?

Wow, this story brings me back to being 12, when the orthodontist told me I needed braces. My parents thankfully gave me the choice, I said no. If I were 12 in today’s world, that might have been a different choice, as, apparently, having metal braces is now, wait for it…cool. Some celebrities and influencers have started wearing metal braces, some are wearing “fake” braces because they like the look. One orthodontist said that kids are coming in asking for metal braces as opposed to Invisilign. Experts advise against getting “fake” braces just for the trend, as it can be a choking hazard, cause infections and possibly damage teeth, saying it’s not worth it just for a fashion symbol.
What’s old is new again, according to a dental assistant who’s 24 and recently got braces. He said, “No shade to Invisalign, but it’s kind of boring to me.”
