Netflix Wants to Be Your Cable Company Now — Wait, Didn’t We All Just Break Up With Cable?

Jul 10, 2026, 9:34 AM | Updated: 10:06 am

Oh, the irony. The streaming service that convinced millions of us to ditch cable is now… considering adding live TV and channel bundles.

We’ll just let that sink in for a second.

Netflix is reportedly exploring a mix of live channels alongside its streaming library as it tries to hold onto U.S. subscribers in an increasingly crowded market. Analysts say the move could spark new growth. Media publishers are calling it a pretty big shift away from pure streaming.

Basically, Netflix is slowly becoming the thing we all paid Netflix to escape.

So What Does This Mean For You?

Look, Denver, we get it. Between Netflix, Hulu, Max, Disney+, Peacock and whatever else your kids have downloaded without asking — the streaming wars are exhausting. And expensive.

The real question is whether adding live TV makes Netflix more valuable or just… more complicated.

The Bottom Line:

  • Live TV + streaming library could actually be convenient
  • Bundling usually means your bill goes up — surprise!
  • We literally cancelled cable for this

No pricing or launch details have been announced yet, so for now we wait.

And maybe dust off that antenna in the garage. Just saying. 😂
