Memorial Day: Our guide to what’s open and what’s closed.

Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer but is a federal holiday, falling on the last Monday of May, honoring members of the US armed forces who died serving our country.

Here’s what’s open or closed on Memorial Day:

First what’s closed:

Costco is CLOSED on Memorial Day.

Government services – DMV, post offices, courts, schools and all other government.

Banks and Stock market.

FedEx and UPS – Not operating on Memorial Day.

Natural Grocers – Closed

Now, what’s open:

Target – Store hours vary by location.

Walmart – Open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

TJ Maxx, Marshall’s – Open normal hours.

Home Depot, Lowes – Both are open normal hours.

Ace Hardware – Stores are independently owned and operated, so hours vary by location.

Macy’s – Open normal hours.

Gap & Old Navy – Open holiday hours, check your location.

Nordstrom – Open normal hours.

Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s – 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Dick’s Sporting Goods – Open normal hours.

REI – Open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Burlington – Open normal hours

Staples – Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Office Depot, OfficeMax – Open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

PetCo, PetSmart – Both are open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Big Lots – Open normal hours

CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid – Open normal hours.

Dollar General, Dollar Tree – Open normal hours.

IKEA – Open normal hours.

Sprouts, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods – Open normal hours.

King Soopers, Safeway – Open normal hours.

Sam’s Club – Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Restaurants that are open normal hours:

Most sit down restaurants are open normal hours.
