Ideal Colorado locations and times to watch Perseid meteor shower on August 12

Aug 11, 2026, 12:25 PM | Updated: 12:26 pm

Wednesday night, many people in Colorado will get to enjoy quite the sight as the Perseid meteor shower’s peak viewing will take place.

Currently, the upcoming monsoon moisture making its way into Colorado – which could be bringing rain to the Zach Bryan shows at Empower Field Thursday and Friday night – could be moving clouds in beginning Wednesday, which may obstruct the view.

But currently, 9News’ Chris Bianchi is saying Wednesday night from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. will be the best times and that the mountains west of Denver and in southern Colorado will be your best bet.

If views are clear, you could be seeing between 30-50 meteors per hour.
