Here is the Parade of Nations order at the Olympics opening ceremony today.
During the Parade of Nations at the Opening Ceremony Olympians sail down the Seine to represent their countries. You may be curious about how the order is determined. Countries usually enter in alphabetical order based on the language of the host country, which is French in this case, with a few exceptions.
Greece always leads the parade to honor their role in creating the modern Olympic Games. The Refugee Olympic Team followed Greece in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and is expected to do the same in Paris.
The host nation, France, will enter last for the Opening Ceremony Parade of Nations this year. In recent years, the IOC introduced a new tradition to honor upcoming host countries, affecting the position of the United States in the Paris Opening Ceremony. Following this tradition, upcoming hosts march just before the host country at the end of the procession. Therefore, the United States and Australia, hosts of the 2028 and 2032 games respectively, will march at the end just before France.
