Heading out for Memorial Day? Expect extra patrols on I-25
May 18, 2026, 1:17 PM
If you’re heading out for Memorial Day weekend, you may notice a lot more law enforcement along I-25. Starting Friday, Colorado State Patrol is rolling out its “100 Deadliest Days of Summer” traffic enforcement effort. Troopers will be out from the Wyoming border all the way to New Mexico, working alongside local agencies through Monday.
Their main focus is keeping drivers safe by cracking down on aggressive driving, impaired driving and protecting anyone stopped on the side of the road with emergency lights on. So if you’re speeding, tailgating, weaving through traffic or making unsafe passes, there’s a good chance you’ll get noticed. And if you’re driving impaired, troopers say you should not expect a warning.
The best plan? Take it easy, give yourself some extra time and stay focused behind the wheel. And please remember to move over for emergency vehicles. Let’s all do our part to keep the holiday weekend safe!
