Easter potatoes could be a real thing

We were joking about this a few weeks ago on “Jenny & Friends” in the morning on KOSI 101.1, but now it looks like it might actually be a thing.
The Easter potato may have arrived. A “New York Times” article says eggs are still so expensive in many places around the country that people are planning to dye potatoes for Easter. This isn’t all that new, really. A potato marketing group tried to make it a thing a couple of years ago, and PETA has been lobbying for the White House Easter Egg Roll to use potatoes for a few years. The story also mentions that videos are popping up on how to dye or paint a potato for Easter. Looks like it’s becoming less of a joke idea, and more of an actual strategy for saving money. Easter Bunny could also opt for hiding plastic eggs full of candy, but that cuts out the whole egg-dyeing tradition for kids.
