Denver-area mail carriers save two families in burning house

A pair of USPS mail carriers in Colorado are being hailed as heroes for alerting two families to a house fire in Highlands Ranch.

Thanks to mail carrier Roy Zuniga and his trainee Rebecca Koch, both families and their pets escaped the blaze unharmed.

Both of them played crucial roles in ensuring the safety of the families. After noticing smoke, Zuniga rushed to loudly knock on the doors of the affected homes. He then removed a car filled with gasoline from a burning garage while Koch, who was only on her fourth day of training, promptly called 911.

Zuniga says he was acting on instinct and both carriers say they were just doing what they felt was right. The families expressed deep gratitude and say they owe their safety to the actions of the mail carriers. For Koch, the experience was a valuable lesson in the role of mail carriers in the community. Both Zuniga and Koch hope their actions will inspire others to help their neighbors in times of need.

GoFundMe has been setup to help the families recover from the fire.
