The days to ship holiday packages and mail greeting cards before Christmas are quickly shrinking.

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS)FedEx and UPS have announced their shipping deadlines so mail, letters, cards and packages may be mailed out so they arrive in time for Christmas.

USPS said this is its busiest time of the year, two weeks before Christmas, and customer traffic at post office locations is rapidly increasing. The deadline to mail holiday packages and greeting cards via the post office’s first-class mail is Saturday, Dec. 16.

The last day for FedEx ground economy delivery before Christmas is Friday, Dec. 15.

UPS has set Tuesday, Dec. 19, as its deadline date for 3 Day Select shipping.

Here are the major deadlines for delivery in time for Monday, Dec. 25.

USPS 2023 holiday shipping deadlines

  • USPS Ground Advantage — Saturday, Dec. 16
  • First-Class Mail (including greeting cards): Saturday, Dec. 16
  • Priority Mail: Monday, Dec. 18
  • Priority Mail Express: Wednesday, Dec. 20

UPS 2023 holiday shipping deadlines

  • UPS 3 Day Select, for delivery on Dec. 22: Tuesday, Dec. 19
  • UPS 2nd Day Air for delivery on Dec. 22: Wednesday, Dec. 20
  • UPS Next Day Air for delivery on Dec. 22: Thursday, Dec. 21
  • UPS Next Day Air for delivery before Dec. 25: Friday, Dec. 22

FedEx 2023 holiday shipping deadlines

  • FedEx Ground Economy: Wednesday, Dec. 13 
  • FedEx Home Delivery, FedEx Ground: Friday, Dec. 15 (Depending on destination, up to Friday, Dec. 22 for 1-day shipping) 
  • FedEx Express Saver, FedEx 3Day Freight: Tuesday, Dec. 19
  • FedEx 2Day: Wednesday, Dec. 20
  • FedEx 1Day Freight, FedEx Extra Hours: Thursday, Dec. 21
  • FedEx SameDay: Friday, Dec. 22
