Colorado’s favorite Halloween candy is… Candy Corn?

Colorado, we need to have a little trick-or-treat heart-to-heart.
According to Instacart’s latest Halloween candy report, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are the big winner across most of the country. No surprise there. Chocolate plus peanut butter is basically a national treasure. But here in Colorado? Instacart says our top Halloween candy is candy corn!
I’ll be honest: I love candy corn. I really do. It’s cute, colorful and tastes like Halloween nostalgia in a little triangle. But would I choose it over Reese’s, Snickers or Peanut M&M’s? Probably not. OK, definitely not.
To make things even more interesting, another report from Innerbody Research says Colorado’s favorite candy is Nerds. So apparently, we are either a candy corn state or a crunchy little sugar-rock state. Very on brand for Colorado to keep everyone guessing.
Nationally, chocolate still seems to rule the Halloween candy bowl, with Reese’s, M&M’s, Hershey’s and Snickers showing up as major favorites. Meanwhile, candy corn is out here doing its own thing, apparently winning hearts in Colorado and Wyoming.
So, whether you’re filling your bowl with candy corn, Reese’s, Snickers, Nerds or the “good stuff” you secretly keep for yourself, just remember: Halloween candy calories don’t count when you’re wearing a costume. At least, that’s what I tell myself!
