Denver, CO:  RTD wants to help people be safe New Years Eve with their Zero Fare for New Years Eve promotion. Riders can use their bus and rail services for free New Years Eve from 7pm on Dec. 31st through 7am New Years Day!

This will be the 15th year that RTD provides this service.  Last year, over 48,000 took advantage of the free rides.  This will include the bus, MetroRide, MallRide, Light Rail and Commuter Rail services.

Often around the holidays police forces step up their checkpoints for drunken driving so better to be safe than sorry and make a smart decision if you indulge too much and get yourself a free safe ride home.

The agency will operate regular service for bus and rail on New Year’s Eve according to a Sunday/holiday schedule, with extra rail cars added to trains where possible to accommodate customers attending Broncos, Avalanche and New Year’s Eve events. On New

Year’s Day, RTD will continue to operate a Sunday/holiday schedule.

RTD will not operate the D, H and L light rail lines during two New Year’s Eve fireworks shows in downtown Denver. However, the agency’s Free MallRide shuttle will continue service on 15th and 17th streets during the events.
