Celebrate National Ranch Dressing Day: America’s Favorite Dip

Mar 10, 2026, 7:20 AM

Every year on March 10, fans of America’s creamiest condiment celebrate National Ranch Dressing Day — a day dedicated to the dressing that somehow escaped the salad bowl and ended up on… well, everything.

Pizza? Sure. Chicken wings? Obviously. Vegetables? Technically.

Ranch dressing has become less of a condiment and more of a personality trait for many Americans. And the numbers prove it.

Ranch and Wings: The Real MVP

When it comes to chicken wings, ranch isn’t just popular — it’s basically the co-star of the plate.

According to the National Chicken Council, 56% of people eat their wings with ranch dressing. In fact, 59% say ranch is their go-to dipping sauce for wings, beating out several other popular options.

Here’s how the rest of the wing-sauce lineup stacks up:

  • Buffalo sauce — 48%

  • Barbecue sauce — 48%

  • Honey mustard — 35%

  • Blue cheese — 33%

  • Teriyaki sauce — 23%

  • Sriracha — 15%

So yes, ranch officially outranks blue cheese in the great wing debate — a fact that may still be upsetting people in Buffalo.

Pizza and Ranch: A Controversial Love Story

If dipping pizza in ranch sounds questionable to you, you might be in the minority.

A survey from RTA Outdoor Living found that 44% of people have dipped their pizza in ranch dressing. Meanwhile, Pizza Hut reports that ranch is the most popular pizza dip, chosen by 38% of customers.

In other words, a lot of people looked at a perfectly good slice of pizza and thought, “You know what this needs? Ranch.”

And honestly, they might be onto something.

The Exercise Math (You May Not Want to Know)

If you’re wondering what all that dipping adds up to, the answer is: quite a bit.

According to the food and nutrition site DietDetective.com, eating 15 chicken wings with ranch dressing would require you to perform the Wave 9,461 times to burn it off.

Yes, the stadium wave. Arms up, arms down. Nearly ten thousand times.

So if you’re planning to celebrate National Ranch Dressing Day properly, you might want to start practicing.

The Bottom Line

Ranch dressing has officially moved far beyond salad territory. It’s now a go-to dip for wings, pizza, veggies and just about anything that could benefit from a cool, creamy upgrade.

So on National Ranch Dressing Day, feel free to grab a plate of wings, a slice of pizza and a generous side of ranch.

Just remember: somewhere out there, you owe the universe roughly 9,461 waves.
