Casa Bonita is hiring, one of its jobs pays up to $200,000 annually — sorry, it’s not cliff diving

The same restaurant where a man in a gorilla suit chases divers off a 30-foot indoor waterfall is now offering someone a $200,000 salary!

Casa Bonita, the Colorado landmark owned by “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, has posted a job listing for VP, People & Talent Strategy with compensation up to $200,000 a year. That is, for context, roughly what a midlevel software engineer makes in Denver — except this job comes with proximity to sopapillas, a dark cave you can wander into during lunch and the faint, ever-present sound of children screaming near a waterfall.

The posting, listed on the restaurant’s careers page, describes the job as “a strategic business partner and member of the senior leadership team responsible for all aspects of people and culture. This role develops and executes strategies that support the long-term vision and business objectives of the organization, ensures regulatory compliance, creates an environment that fosters an exceptional guest and associate experience, and builds organizational capability to support current operations and future growth.” It sits alongside listings for positions more traditionally associated with a place that has a puppet theater inside it — entertainers earn roughly $22 an hour and servers average about $28, according to Indeed salary data.

Parker and Stone revealed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last month that their purchase of Casa Bonita ultimately cost about $50 million — far more than the $7 to $8 million they originally expected. “It was a cool thing to do, but it was a really dumb thing to do,” Parker told Kimmel. Stone added that the restaurant brings in about 12,000 guests per week and is “just breaking even.” Parker joked they should make their money back “around 2040.”

So, if you have a human resources or business administration degree, a tolerance for accordion music and a willingness to explain to auditors why your employer has a line item for gorilla costumes, Casa Bonita would like to hear from you. Applications are open at casabonitadenver.com/careers.
