Billy Joel fans will get to finish one of the greatest songs ever

Billy Joel fans will get to finish one of the greatest songs ever Friday. A broadcast special of the singer in performance at Madison Square Garden was cut off abruptly in most time zones Sunday night during his climactic rendition of the signature hit, “Piano Man,” and after considerable public outrage, CBS has committed to re-airing the entire program on Friday night.

Said the network, in a statement released Monday morning, following widespread news reports of viewer dissatisfaction, “A network programming timing error ended last night’s Billy Joel special approximately two minutes early in the Eastern and Central time zones. We apologize to Mr. Joel, his fans, our affiliated stations and our audience whose viewing experience was interrupted during the last song. Due to the overwhelming demand from his legion of fans, ‘Billy Joel: The 100th — Live at Madison Square Garden’ will be rebroadcast in its entirety on CBS on April 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.”

It could not have come at a worse time in the show, but so glad we get to see all of it on Friday. Thanks to CBS for making it right.
