“Benadryl Challenge” is a dangerous Tik Tok trend

Law enforcement officials are warning parents about the so-called “Benadryl Challenge,” a social media trend that’s making the rounds on TikTok and elsewhere.

Here’s the gist: Teens are taking excessive amounts of Benadryl — yes, the allergy medicine — to try to hallucinate. Because apparently we’ve run out of safer ways to be bored.

Doctors say taking large doses of Benadryl can cause serious medical emergencies, including seizures and heart problems. In some cases, it can even be fatal.

Officials are urging parents to talk with their kids about the risks and to keep an eye on medications at home. Benadryl might be over-the-counter, but it’s not harmless when it’s abused.
