Can we please stop normalizing this type of criticism? As a woman in my industry I have heard it all over the years. When I was at my largest I felt so bad about myself and it lead to more bad choices. I would never wish those thoughts on any woman. We can all win!
Ariana Grande addressed critics of her appearance in a joint interview with Cynthia Erivo, discussing the pressures women face to be perfect.
Grande opened up about growing up in the spotlight and the constant scrutiny of her face and body. She emphasized the importance of allowing people to feel beautiful in their own way and criticized the comfortability people have in commenting on others’ looks. Grande also addressed concerns about her weight, explaining that her previous physique was the result of unhealthy habits and a low point in her life.
“I’ve been doing this in front of the public and been a specimen in a Petri dish really since I was 16 or 17. I have heard it all,” she begins. “I’ve heard every version of it—of what’s wrong with me. And then you fix it, and it’s wrong for different reasons.”
You are gorgeous and I hope this helps other women! Thank you for being so open and honest!
