Arapahoe Basin is first out of the gate for Colorado ski season

Grab the goggles and start stretching those ski legs – Colorado ski season is officially here!
Arapahoe Basin Ski Area made a surprise announcement Wednesday morning that it would open at 11 a.m., becoming the first ski area in the state to kick off the season.
Opening day will include the Black Mountain Express lift and the High Noon run, which is plenty for skiers and riders who have been staring longingly at their gear since, oh, about July.
It’s been a dry start around Colorado, so this is a big “let’s go!” moment for snow lovers. Last season, A-Basin also outlasted everyone, staying open until May 17.
Now we just need Mother Nature to get the memo and send more powder. Preferably a lot. And preferably before we all start doing snow dances in the driveway.
