A second Buc-ee’s location in Colorado planned

Colorado got its first Buc-ee’s location earlier this year, and judging by how busy that one is, another one in Colorado wouldn’t be a bad idea.

A developer representing the Texas-based convenience store chain, made a presentation to the Palmer Lake Town Board of Trustees on October 24, proposing a flagpole annexation of land along County Line Rd. and I-25 for what could be the second location of Buc-ee’s in Colorado

The location is 51 miles from Denver-proper, but much closer to the south suburbs of Denver than the first location in Johnstown. The proposed location is only about 20 miles straight south on I-25 from Castle Rock.

“At this stage, we cannot comment on the project, whether we believe it meets eligibility, or share any thoughts or opinions on its viability and merits. Commenting or issuing opinions would break our oath to quasi-judicial standing and neutrality, and we would be barred from voting on the development in any form,” Palmer Lake Mayor Grant Havenar said in a social media statement.

The Board of Trustees voted to hold an annexation hearing on December 12 to discuss the eligibility of the annexation.
