Reese’s adds disclaimer to Peanut Butter Pumpkins

Hershey has added a new disclaimer to its Reese’s Peanut Butter Pumpkins packaging.
The label now says, “Carving not on actual product,” appearing beneath an image of a pumpkin-shaped candy with a carved face. The update comes after a Florida lawsuit alleged that images on Reese’s packages misled buyers because the actual candies did not include the decorative details shown on the wrapper.
To be fair, anyone who has ever opened a seasonal Reese’s knows the shape is more of a suggestion than a guarantee. Pumpkin? Maybe. Blob? Also yes. Delicious? Absolutely. The disclaimer is meant to make it clear that the carved pumpkin face is just part of the packaging design and not something you should expect on the candy itself.
So if you were planning to examine your Reese’s Pumpkin like a tiny edible jack-o’-lantern, adjust expectations accordingly.
It is still peanut butter and chocolate. We will all somehow survive.
