Denver International Airport Is Opening a Day Care Center for Employees

Denver International Airport is working on a new way to help employees juggle work and family life: child care.
DIA is opening a child care center as part of its new training facility, according to airport officials. The center will serve employees using the training facility, but the airport is also looking into a much bigger idea — whether it could eventually offer child care for its entire workforce.
And that workforce is not exactly tiny. About 43,000 people work at or around Denver International Airport. That includes airport employees, airline workers, restaurant and retail staff, security teams and plenty of other people who keep the place running while the rest of us are panic-buying gum and trying to remember which pocket has our ID.
Airport leaders are researching the cost and feasibility of providing child care on a larger scale.
Honestly, for parents, this could be a huge deal. Child care is expensive, hard to find and often does not line up neatly with airport shifts that start before sunrise or end when most of us are already in pajamas.
If DIA can make it work, it could help employees stay in their jobs, reduce stress and make one of Colorado’s busiest workplaces a little more family-friendly.
Because getting through security is hard enough. Finding child care before a 5 a.m. shift? That is next-level parenting.
