Local Coffee Connections for your Pumpkin Spice Fix

Sep 28, 2026, 8:24 AM | Updated: 8:46 am

Pumpkin spice latte season is here, which means it is once again socially acceptable to pay $7 for emotional support in a cup.

Sure, you could grab one from a national chain and call it a day. No judgment. Well, maybe a little. But Denver has plenty of locally owned coffee shops making fall drinks with real pumpkin, house-made syrups, proper espresso and actual creativity — not just a gallon of orange sugar sauce wearing a scarf.

Here are a few Denver-area coffee shops serving pumpkin spice lattes and fall drinks worth leaving the house for.

The Weathervane Cafe

Uptown | 1725 E. 17th Ave.

The Weathervane Cafe already feels like fall before you even order anything. The shop is housed in a 19th-century carriage house, which is exactly the kind of cozy, old-Denver setting that makes a pumpkin spice latte taste better. Science? No. Vibes? Absolutely.

Their popular pumpkin spice latte is made with real pumpkin and leans into a more complex, spice-forward flavor profile. Translation: It tastes like someone actually thought about cinnamon, nutmeg and clove instead of dumping in syrup and hoping for the best.

If you want a PSL that feels classic but not basic — or at least basic in a charming, self-aware way — The Weathervane is a strong place to start.

Lavender Coffee Boutique

Platt Park | 1219 S. Pearl St.

Lavender Coffee Boutique in Platt Park takes the pumpkin spice latte and gives it the luxury treatment, because apparently even gourds deserve a glow-up.

Their version is made with house-made pumpkin syrup, blackstrap molasses, autumnal spices and Pearl Street espresso. That combination gives the drink a richer, deeper flavor than your average fall latte. The molasses adds a little warmth and complexity, while the espresso keeps everything from drifting into “liquid candle” territory.

It’s a good pick if you like your PSL a little more grown-up, a little more decadent and a lot less like something that came from a drive-thru speaker at 7:42 a.m.

Hearth Bakery & Cafe

Ballpark District / Uptown area

Hearth Bakery & Cafe has earned plenty of local love for its cozy baked goods, house-made syrups and seasonal drinks. When fall rolls around, this is exactly the kind of place you want in your rotation.

Their pumpkin spice offerings get praise for tasting warm and authentic without being overly sugary, which is harder to find than it should be. House-made syrups and cold foams help give the drinks a crafted feel, rather than that one-note sweetness that makes your teeth start negotiating with you.

Bonus: It’s a bakery. So, yes, you should probably get a pastry with your latte. For balance.

Scr3am & Sugar Coffee Co.

South Broadway | 1974 S. Acoma St.

If your preferred fall aesthetic is less “cozy cardigan” and more “haunted house with espresso,” Scr3am & Sugar Coffee Co. has you covered.

This horror-themed coffee shop rolls out a seasonal “Toil & Trouble” fall menu, including “The Basic Witch,” a pumpkin pie latte that knows exactly what it is and has no reason to apologize. The shop also offers creative alternative specialty drinks, so if pumpkin spice is not your entire personality — congratulations, very brave — you still have options.

Scr3am & Sugar is especially worth a visit if you want your fall coffee run to come with a little theatrical flair. And honestly, more coffee shops should be spooky. We’re all tired anyway.

Little Owl Coffee

Downtown / Union Station | 1555 Blake St.

Little Owl Coffee has been a downtown staple for years, known for quality coffee, clean execution and a menu that changes with the seasons.

When the weather cools down, Little Owl typically leans into seasonal flavors with a well-balanced pumpkin spice latte that keeps the coffee front and center. That is important, because at the end of the day, this is supposed to be a latte — not hot pumpkin frosting with a caffeine rumor.

If you work downtown, live near Union Station or just need a good excuse to wander around with a warm drink and pretend you’re in a fall movie, Little Owl is an easy choice.

The Bottom Line

Denver’s local coffee scene has more than enough pumpkin spice options to get you through fall without surrendering completely to corporate latte season.

Whether you want real pumpkin, house-made syrup, a spooky seasonal menu or a PSL that does not taste like it was assembled in a lab by someone who has only heard of autumn, these locally owned shops have you covered.

As always, seasonal menus can change, so check with the shop before you go. Nothing ruins a crisp fall coffee run faster than discovering the pumpkin spice latte is gone and having to order, I don’t know, a normal latte like it’s February.
