Denver’s first 100 degree day this year possible this weekend

Denver’s reign of heat continues this Summer as we approach what will Denver’s best chance at our first 100 degree day(s) of the year.
According to 9News, this Sunday and Monday we are forecasted to potentially hit 100 degree days. If we do, Sunday we would miss the record of 102, and tie the current record for Monday at 100. Saturday will be no slouch either as it will be right on the cusp of 100 at 98 degrees.
Denver on average since records began being tracked usually only averages one 100 degree day a year, but over the last decade or two, that has grown to averaging 3 days in the triple digits.
Heading into the weekend it looks like there will be a few opportunities for storms. While rain would definitely be welcome to the firefighters battling several fires across the state including the Aspen Acres fire which has grown to over 90,000 acres and the Ferris Fire which has burned over 50,000 acres, there is definitely concern over more lightning strikes igniting more fires.
