Beat the summer heat with these essentials

As a record-setting heatwave sweeps through the U.S. this holiday weekend, there’s no time like the present to shore up on your heat safety knowledge and invest in some cooling essentials.

With consistent temperatures in the low- to mid-90s in Denver, residents will want to take precautionary measure to avoid heat exhaustion, dehydration and more serious illness like heatstroke.

To limit your risk, health officials encourage people to seek out air-conditioned environments; monitor local National Weather Service alerts; dress in lightweight, light-colored clothing that reflects heat and sunlight; limit sun exposure; drink plenty of water and avoid drinking alcoholic beverages.

Additionally, consider investing in products like personal fans, cooling towels, protective gear and hydration packets. Here are some great options:

JISULIFE Portable Neck Fan

MISSION Cooling Hoodie Towel

YQXCC 4 Pack Cooling Towels

Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier

Diveblues Portable Handheld Fan

Women’s Outdoor UV-Protection-Foldable Sun-Hat

Don’t forget about your furry friends! Here are some products to help keep your pet cool:

Swamp Cooler Cooling Dog Vest

The Green Pet Shop Cool Pet Pad
