M&M’s Just Dropped a Banana Nut Bread Flavor — But Good Luck Finding It

If you’ve been sitting around thinking, “You know what M&M’s are missing? The vibe of my grandma’s kitchen,” then buckle up — because Mars just read your mind.
M&M’s has announced a new bakery-inspired iteration of the popular Peanut M&M’s. The new candy was announced in a press release by M&M’s parent company, Mars, Inc., and features a peanut wrapped in banana bread-flavored milk chocolate. The official description from Mars calls it the “classic flavor of banana bread blended with signature milk chocolate, all wrapped around a satisfyingly crunchy peanut.” So yes, it’s basically a bakery in your hand. No oven required.
Oh, and before you ask — no actual bananas were harmed in the making of these. The flavor comes from natural and artificial flavors, so it’s all the cozy banana bread energy with none of the commitment of actually baking.
This Is Kinda a Big Deal
Banana Nut Bread marks M&M’s first banana-flavored candy in the U.S. So yeah, this isn’t just a fun limited drop — it’s a legitimate milestone for the brand. Australia has seen both banana and banana split M&M’s over the past decade, so American fans have officially caught up with our friends Down Under. Better late than never, right?
Where to Get Them (And Why You Might Be Mad About It)
Here’s where things get a little spicy. The new flavor is available exclusively and for a limited time at Kroger-owned grocery stores nationwide. Beginning in June, the candies are available only in 9-ounce sharing-size bags. The Banana Nut Bread M&M’s, a Kroger exclusive, will go for around $6.29 per bag depending on location.
Kroger-affiliated stores include Fred Meyer, King Soopers, Ralphs, Pick ‘N Save, and more.
The Backstory: A Bakery Collection Bonus
Months after Mars launched its limited-edition Bakery Collection as part of a campaign to engage fans and get them to pick the next new M&M’s flavor, it appears that the brand had one more potential contender and instead of releasing it as part of the fan-vote promotion, it’s apparently getting its own separate release.
The Banana Nut Bread flavor comes straight off the heels of M&M’s Bakery Collection contest — a fan-voted competition between limited-edition flavors. In the end, Lemon Meringue Pie ended up besting both Peanut Butter Cinnamon Roll and Cherry Chocolate Cupcake. So while Lemon Meringue Pie took home the crown, Banana Nut Bread is out here making its own moves — no votes needed.
The Internet Has Thoughts
Trusted food blogger Markie_devo was among the first to share the news, noting the candy-coated chocolate brand was launching the new banana bread-inspired flavor very soon — but it won’t be found just anywhere that sells M&M’s. The post set the internet ablaze, with fans calling it the “Most Epic M&M Ever” and shouting “Team Nana forever” in the comments.
The hype is real. The exclusivity is… less popular. But all of us in Colorado should be able to find it at our local King Soopers, and consider yourself lucky and grab a bag while you still can. Folks on the East Coast will just be waiting and hoping these show up online.
