Why keep your Christmas lights on

Jan 4, 2024, 9:29 AM | Updated: 9:29 am

The new year usually means get those outside Christmas lights down unless you live in Colorado. It’s the tradition all over the state to leave the lights on during the run of the  National Western Stock Show which starts January 6th. The stock show started in 1906 but the tradition of leaving the lights on started in 1920’s when some of the first lights were hung outside the Capitol building and  City County building. The reason was to welcome visitors to the city for the stock show. It ends January 21st.
