You’ve probably noticed that Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis did NOT return for “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”. Well, Tim Burton has explained why. SPOILER ALERT!!
Basically, he had a story in mind that didn’t involve their characters, and he didn’t want to force anything. He said he waited so many years for it to make sense for the new story.
Quote, “I think the thing was for me I didn’t want to just tick any boxes. So even though they were such an amazing integral part of the first one, I was focusing on something else.”
He says the sequel will explain how their characters, the Maitlands, found a “loophole” to let them leave the house. (So happy for them).
“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” hits theaters next Friday, September 6th.
