United flight loses tire and lands at DIA

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a…tire! A United Airlines flight taking off out of Los Angeles International Airport lost a tire during take-off. The flight made it to Denver on Monday, July 8, and landed safely, but minus one tire.

This is the second United flight this year that has lost a tire during take-off.  The other flight was headed to Japan from San Francisco back in March of 2024. The most recent missing tire flight had 174 passengers on board and seven crew members. No one was injured, and the FAA is now investigating and has the tire in their possession.
