In a study that looked at how people handle changes, called “adaptation.” For over two decades researchers studied 10,000 people in the UK ages 16-60 to study how they were before life changes and how they were after.
The study shows that most folks can recover from tough situations, like losing a spouse.
It also discovered that after divorce, women often feel much better, both in their minds and bodies.
Researchers found that women become happier and more satisfied with life when their marriages end.
More interesting is that a woman’s happiness lasts up to five years after the marriage ends. Surprisingly, these women are even happier than their usual level of happiness throughout their lives.
Researchers found that while men experienced a slight increase in happiness after divorce, it was not as significant as the boost observed in women.
Women feel liberated after leaving their unhappy marriages and most men don’t.
