Smash Mouth Singer dies at 56

Steve Harwell, lead singer of the band Smash Mouth, died at age 56 from liver failure. He had been struggling with alcohol abuse for years. He died in hospice at home surrounded by his friends and family. This news comes two years after a troubling incident involving Steve, where he appeared disoriented during a live performance. He was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, heart failure and Wernicke’s encephalopathy, and his substance abuse was said to have contributed to his declining state. Fans and music lovers everywhere are mourning the loss of Steve Harwell.
