Richard Simmons disavows Pauly Shore starring biopic in rare statement.
Richard Simmons, a former fitness icon who has chosen to live a private life in recent times, has expressed his disapproval of a new biographical movie. In an uncommon statement, Simmons made it clear that he has never granted permission for this film to be made. The movie, which is currently unnamed, was announced on Wednesday morning by comedian and actor Pauly Shore. Shore was chosen for the role due to his striking physical resemblance to Simmons, which had previously gained attention as a viral meme. Additionally, the 55-year-old actor has portrayed Simmons in a separate short film called “The Court Jester,” which is set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Friday.
After the film was announced, 75-year-old Simmons wrote on Facebook: “Hi Everybody! You may have heard they may be doing a movie about me with Pauly Shore. I have never given my permission for this movie. So don’t believe everything you read. I no longer have a manager, and I no longer have a publicist. I just try to live a quiet life and be peaceful. Thank you for all your love and support. Richard.”
