Red, White, and dreading the Bill: The cost of your Memorial Day BBQ this year.
An estimated 52 percent of Americans are planning to celebrate Memorial Day by barbecuing, according to Wallethub, and it’s going to cost them a little more than it has in previous years.
The average cost of a Memorial Day barbecue this year is $30, which is up 10 percent from last year, WalletHub reports.
Contributing to the hike is the price of ground beef hamburgers, which has climbed 15 percent over the past year, experts say. Condiments have also gone up in price, with relish rising a staggering 50 percent from last year, mustard increasing 3.16 percent and ketchup climbing 1.84 percent, according to Datasembly.
On the other hand, the price of hot dogs haven’t changed at all, experts say. Similarly, hamburger buns and hot dog buns have barely changed, rising only 0.66 percent and 0.98 percent, respectively.
