Red Light, Green Light: Denver Police focus on more Serious offenses.
Good news for you if you often find yourself being pulled over by the police for minor things! The Denver Police Department (DPD) has decided to limit its officers from making certain low-level traffic stops.
This means that they will now be able to focus more on serious crimes instead. DPD will no longer pull people over for minor traffic infractions that do not pose an immediate threat to public safety, such as expired registration tags, driving without fully functioning headlights or taillights, or failing to use a turn signal.
This new policy is aimed at improving community relations, enhancing officer safety, and making more efficient use of their time. However, it’s important to note that officers will still take all traffic violations seriously. So, if you are pulled over for a more serious violation, you can still be ticketed for a low-level offense.
We would still recommend not committing these low level traffic offenses to be courteous to your fellow drivers.
