Heads up, there may be possible flooding around the Cherry Creek Reservoir today.
The Army Corp of Engineers is set to be flushing sediment out of the Cherry Creek Dam on Wednesday, potentially causing trails and crossings to flood.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct the annual maintenance to ensure the dam’s outlet gates are functioning properly. The higher flows released during the flush will reach the Champa Street Bridge downstream by Wednesday evening.
The public is advised not to cross or access Cherry Creek on Wednesday, and Denver Parks and Recreation has provided alternate routes to avoid the area. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers owns and operates the Cherry Creek Dam, as well as the Chatfield and Bear Creek dams in Denver.
