Marvel Land is Coming To Disneyland Resort

By on June 13, 2019

There has been talks of a Marvel themed park at Disneyland Resort for quite some time and now that Galaxy’s Edge is finally complete it looks like Marvel Land will become a reality.

Disney has obtained permits to begin the expansion at California Adventure. The city of Anaheim has approved a handful of permits for projects valued at more than $14 million, according to an L.A. Times report, like a bathroom overhaul, a retail outlet, a microbrewery, a character meet-and-greet area, plus improvements to the behind-the-scenes buildings.

According to licensing agreements that predated Disney’s 2009 acquisition of Marvel bans the word “marvel” from appearing on any theme-park land so it looks like the new project won’t be actually called “Marvel Land.” However, Disney has found a way around that by using the word “Avengers” in its place.

The Marvel-themed park will undoubtedly be located near the Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout ride. More details are expected to be released at the 2019 D23 Expo scheduled for August 23-25.

“Marvel Land” is expected to open at Disneyland Resort in 2020.

As a huge Marvel fan, this excites me so much! I now know where I will spend most of my time once it opens.
