Denver, CO – A local hero will be throwing out the first pitch at the Colorado Rockies home opener later today. Denver police Sgt. Justin Dodge will have the honor of throwing out the first ball. Sgt. Dodge had to have his leg partially amputated after being hit by a firetruck during the Nuggets victory parade in Denver.

Since June’s accident, Sgt. Dodge has undergone 8 surgeries and been fitted with a prosthetic leg. In February Sgt. Dodge was cleared to go back to work with Denver SWAT.

The Rockies first pitch happens today, Friday April 5th  at 2:10pm.
