To celebrate “the official start of summer” on June 20, Kroger supermarkets will be giving away a total of 45,000 pints of Kroger-brand ice cream — or, as Kroger puts it, 50 pints for each of the “900 minutes of sunlight” expected that day.
“With more sunshine to enjoy a sweet treat, we are giving away ice cream for 15 hours straight; that is a whole lot of free ice cream,” said Juan De Paoli, the vice president of the company’s store brands division.
The coupons, however, cannot be redeemed in 10 states where Kroger-operated stores are located: California, Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, Nevada, Tennessee and Virginia.
(Kroger is the parent company of King Soopers and that may be why it’s only available at “Kroger” stores.)
What gives Kroger?! We deserve free ice cream too!!
