The gift shop and restaurant located up at Lookout Mountain where Buffalo Bill’s Grave is located has been run a family-run business by the current family since 1956 and will now be closed in 2025 as Denver Mountain Parks owns the building and park and is working to figure out a future for the property.

The city says the building needs significant structural improvements and they are looking at restoration and maintenance for all the mountain parks, including where the Buffalo Bill museum is located.

The shop known for its large stuffed buffalo and a range of novelty items related both to Buffalo Bill and Colorado has served over 80,000 visitors annually with the grave having half a million visitors every year.

Visitors can expect the gift shop and restaurant to be closed for a time after December 31. How long it might be closed is unclear. The city says it will bring in a historic preservation architect to look at the property.
