I have had my credit stolen several times and THIS terrifies me.
There’s supposedly been another massive data breach. This time it involves EVERYBODY’S social security number and physical address.
A hacking group called “USDoD” claims to have stolen 2.7 BILLION records earlier this year from National Public Data, which provides personal information to employers, private investigators, and others doing background checks.
That including sensitive identification information for EVERYONE in the U.S., U.K., and Canada. They’ve tried selling it . . . and some of it may have leaked.
It’s unclear how big of a threat this is. Officials are advising people to “monitor their credit reports” and “manage their passwords effectively.”
Teresa Murray, consumer watchdog director for the U.S. Public Information Research Group, “If this in fact is pretty much the whole dossier on all of us, it certainly is much more concerning” than prior breaches, “And if people weren’t taking precautions in the past, which they should have been doing, this should be a five-alarm wake-up call for them.”
CHECK on you credit!!
